Maybe you have grown sick from the taste of weed and want to improve your smoking experience, or maybe your bud is not the best and you want to do something to save it. On the other hand, it is also possible that you are just a curious stoner who likes to experiment once in a while.
Whatever it is, rest assured that you certainly can change, enhance or add more flavor to your bud. It is not too complicated and the materials are common, daily use items you can find lying around your kitchen. Some require a little investment but nothing that could restrain you from trying. Actually, they are the best option if you want to make joints taste better.
How to make joints taste better
You might have the idea that after harvested, there is nothing you can do with the plant’s taste, but that is not the case. You can also alter the flavor by adding things to the jar after flowers are packaged.
The following are some options in case you have not ground up your bud and are willing to wait a couple hours prior to your smoking session to prepare it. Our main tool here is a jar or container.
- Essential oil: First the rightful warnings. Look carefully at the ingredients to make sure the essential oil or extract is safe for human consumption. Let a drop on your finger to give it a quick taste. You may want to discard it if it burns, has a chemical aftertaste, or is too perfumey. Now, use the selected extract or essential oil to soak a cotton ball, then stick it to the jar lid so the cotton ball is able to hang inside the lid, but without having contact with the buds. Avoid condensation or any other signs of excess moisture by keeping an eye on the jar as this can cause the buds to mould and rot.
- Dried fruit and spices: The incorporation of dried products to the container also works well and helps to reduce mould risk. You can put in citrus peels, apple slices, flower petals, and spices such as rosemary, cinnamon, or cloves, as long as they are fully dried. To keep your flavoring additive and weed apart, empty out a tea bag or something of similar material and then fill with fresh product.
- Food-grade extracts: As food extracts can be found at your local grocery store, they are a quick option to make joints taste better. Besides the famous vanilla extract, look for ingredients such as strawberry extract, almond extract, rum extract, and more available in the baking aisle section every store has. These are perfect since they are supposed to be used for human consumption.
If the methods above didn’t convince you, you can try something when you are ready to roll up your joint. Moreover, the following will work for sure and are easy solutions, although you will probably need to spend more money on them.
-
Tea leaves: Take the tea bags in your counter, but not to drink a cup. This time the tea leaves will be our flavour enhancer. Choose a flavor that calls your attention and cut the tea bag to take everything out. You will add a portion of this to mix it with your pot. Tea bag leaves are better since they are cut in even lengths, which helps them burn without trouble at the same time weed does. After both are mixed together, roll your joint as you would normally do and smoke.
- Drops: Go to your favorite cannabis or smoking store and buy flavored drops for your joint. They are especially designed to enhance the natural flavors of your smoke by adding them directly to your bud or rolling paper. There are a lot of options available such as Cinnamon Sugar, Melon, Peach, Cream soda, Creamsicle, Blueberry, Coconut, Chocolate, just to name a few. This is one of the best ways to make your joint taste better if you are constantly needing to change its flavor.
- Flavored rolling paper: Many know about this kind of paper. Instead of the regular rolling paper, you can purchase the ones with blackberry, vanilla, or white grape flavors. According to your taste, pick from citrusy to more sweet options and roll your herb with them. Most of these products are rich and strong, but not in a way that can be cloying and unbearable.
- High-quality: If you feel like your joint tastes terrible, too subtle or nothing at all, it could be due to the quality of what you bought. Ask for the dankest bud since these have an unmistakable, pungent aroma that will guarantee a great taste as well, besides a high-potency experience. Don’t be afraid of prices, as it will be totally worth it at the end of the day.
Experiment with a small bit, but not the whole jar of herb, until you know what will happen and what you want. The last thing you want to do is get too overwhelmed and excited by the expectations that you end up destroying all of the product. Last but not least, anything containing a great amount of sugar is a big no. Flavourings with sugar quickly burn and when they do, it smells awful, so they certainly don't make your marijuana taste any better.
